What is Pelvic Health Physical Therapy?

Pelvic Health Physical Therapy is a specialized type of physical therapy that helps with issues related to bladder, bowel, sexual dysfunction, pelvic pain, prolapse, pre/postnatal, etc.

Pelvic floor physical therapists are specially trained to examine the muscles of the pelvic floor internally (either vaginally or rectally) to see how the muscles are working.

Pelvic floor physical therapists also examine how you move and look at other joints and muscles that may perpetuate pelvic issues such as the low back, SI joints, and the hips.

There can be many reasons why pelvic floor dysfunction occurs and each patient requires a specialized assessment in order to truly get to the root cause of the problem.

If you are having issues related to bowel, bladder, or pain, a pelvic floor therapist can be a major asset in your road to recovery.
